(2022/09/30-07:06)

Investors among Salaried Workers in Japan Top 50 Pct

The proportion of investors among salaried workers in Japan has topped 50 pct for the first time amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, a survey showed Thursday.
More people started investing in stocks and other financial products as they had more time to spare and acquired knowledge about financial markets while facing a fall in income, according to the survey by FIL Investments (Japan) Ltd.
"Young people have begun to invest as they find it easy to obtain investment knowledge while having fewer opportunities to spend their money," said Haruka Urata, researcher at the Tokyo-based asset management company.
The online survey covered some 11,000 regular employees in their 20s to 60s across the country.
The proportion of investors among them came to 54 pct, the first figure above 50 pct since the survey started in 2010.
