令和初の文化勲章親授式＝ノーベル賞吉野さんら－皇居

　文化の日の３日、令和初の文化勲章親授式が皇居・宮殿で行われた。ノーベル化学賞の受賞が決まった旭化成名誉フェローの吉野彰氏（７１）や狂言の野村萬氏＝本名野村太良＝（８９）ら受章者６人が出席し、天皇陛下が勲章を手渡された。
　他の受章者は、数理工学者の甘利俊一氏（８３）、免疫学者の坂口志文氏（６８）、政治学者の佐々木毅氏（７７）、写真家の田沼武能氏（９０）。天皇陛下は受章者に「どうかくれぐれも体を大切にされ、今後ともそれぞれの分野の発展のために力を尽くされますよう願っております」と言葉を掛けた。

　受章者はその後、記者会見。勲章を首に掛けた吉野氏は「重みと言いますか…これ実際重いんです」と記者団を笑わせ、「私は科学技術分野の人間。幅広い『文化』の中で、私に頂けたことを非常にうれしく思っています」と語った。
　写真分野で初の受章となった田沼氏は、会見にも愛用のカメラを携えて臨んだ。「僕一人ではなく、写真関係者全員が喜んでいる。いろんな方が文化勲章を取られたときに撮影してきたが、まさか自分が反対側に立つとは夢にも思わなかった」と笑顔を浮かべた。（2019/11/03-17:00）

The Japanese Order of Culture was conferred on Nobelist Akira Yoshino and others Sunday in the first such conferment ceremony in the Reiwa period, which began in May upon Emperor Naruhito's enthronement.
   At the ceremony in the Imperial Palace, the Emperor handed the badge of the order to Yoshino, 71, who shared this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry with foreign researchers, and five other people.
   The other five were Japanese "kyogen" traditional farcical play actor Nomura Man, 89, mathematical engineering scholar Shunichi Amari, 83, immunologist Shimon Sakaguchi, 68, political scientist Takeshi Sasaki, 77, and photographer Takeyoshi Tanuma, 90.
   The Emperor congratulated them, praising their efforts, achievements and contributions to cultural advancement.
   At a press conference, Yoshino, honorary fellow at chemical maker Asahi Kasei Corp. , said he is "very happy" that the order was conferred on a person in the science and technology field.
